The Australian
and New Zealand Solar Energy Society (ANZSES)
is an affiliate Section of ISES, the International
Solar Energy Society. By "solar energy"
refers to all the renewable energy sources
that originate from the sun: solar radiation
(photovoltaic and solar thermal), wind
(wind energy), biomass and biogas, tidal
and hydroelectricity. ANZSES does not
support fossil fuels or nuclear energy,
simply because these energies are not

The Centre for
Sustainable Energy Systems (CSES)
is a departmental centre within the Department
of Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering
and Information Technology at Australian
National University. The roles of CSES
are to provide teaching support for the
undergraduate and masters programs presented
by the Department of Engineering; to provide
supervision for PhD candidates in the
field of solar energy technologies; to
carry out fundamental research in solar
energy technologies (note that solar energy
research is also carried out within the
Department of Engineering but not under
the banner of CSES); and to liaise with
industry partners to assist in the commercialisation
of new technologies emerging.

Environment Institute
of Australia and New Zealand
The Environment Institute of Australia
and New Zealand is the professional association
for environmental practitioners with an
Australia and New Zealand-wide membership
in the public and private sectors. Originally
formed in 1987, as the Environment Institute
of Australia (EIA) it was reconstituted
in 2002 to incorporate a New Zealand Chapter
and thus became the EIANZ. The New Zealand
Chapter was formally launched in May 2003.
