The Australian and New Zealand Solar Energy Society (ANZSES) is an affiliate Section of ISES, the International Solar Energy Society. By "solar energy" refers to all the renewable energy sources that originate from the sun: solar radiation (photovoltaic and solar thermal), wind (wind energy), biomass and biogas, tidal and hydroelectricity. ANZSES does not support fossil fuels or nuclear energy, simply because these energies are not sustainable.

Ausbale is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the practice of building with straw. Our members include owner builders, architects, engineers, and those interested in straw bale buildings, sustainable building practices, healthy homes and preservation of the environment. The Building Designers Association is a dynamic organisation whose members have proven technical and design competencies. The Faculty of Built Environment (FBE) at the University of New South Wales is unique in Australia in the range of disciplines it offers, including: Architecture, Building, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture and, Planning & Urban Development. FBE has an academic structure aimed at encouraging synergy among the disciplines in the Faculty as well as providing flexibility for students in the range of courses they are able to select. Students have the opportunity to gain both expertise in their chosen disciplines and to become familiar with the concepts and ideas of the other disciplines in the Faculty.

The School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of New South Wales is internationally recognised for its research in the area of photovoltaics, most of which is now conducted under the ARC Centre of Excellence in Advanced Silicon Photovoltaics and Photonics. It was also the first organisation internationally to offer undergraduate training in the area of Photovoltaics and Solar Energy, and since then has extended the educational programs offered to include postgraduate and research training opportunities

Climate Change: ACF maintain that it is essential that Australia's greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by at least 60% by 2050 and that the use of fossil fuels is phased out. ACF is campaigning for a 10% mandatory renewable energy target, and the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol, including national legislation, tax reforms and a green cities program.

The Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSES) is a departmental centre within the Department of Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at Australian National University. The roles of CSES are to provide teaching support for the undergraduate and masters programs presented by the Department of Engineering; to provide supervision for PhD candidates in the field of solar energy technologies; to carry out fundamental research in solar energy technologies (note that solar energy research is also carried out within the Department of Engineering but not under the banner of CSES); and to liaise with industry partners to assist in the commercialisation of new technologies emerging.

The Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) collaborates with government, industry and the community to develop solutions leading to sustainable futures. ISF promotes a practical response to the triple bottom line issues of economic viability, social responsibility and ecological sustainability through consultancy, training and applied research. Its inter-disciplinary approach enables the provision of innovative advice and information through four focal programs in water, energy, local government and transport.

Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand

The Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand is the professional association for environmental practitioners with an Australia and New Zealand-wide membership in the public and private sectors. Originally formed in 1987, as the Environment Institute of Australia (EIA) it was reconstituted in 2002 to incorporate a New Zealand Chapter and thus became the EIANZ.
